We call it a dance, this act of walking as both the Bride of Christ and the Sons of God. Challenging and sometimes confusing to the untrained eye, the cycle from one to the other is anything but tame. Like a roller coaster, its many twists and turns are exhilarating yet terrifying.
Have you ever been caught in limbo uncertain about whether to wait or go? Have you ever sought the Lord for direction only to be met with a silent smile? How you respond in such moments depends on your understanding of these two vital roles, and how you live them out adds spice to your walk with God. This is the playing field for builders in God’s Kingdom. The place were intimacy and dominion mingle to unlock deep joy in relationship with God.
Are you more inclined to seek intimacy with God, or is your default position one of building and conquest? This class will help you identify your strength, meeting you right where you are on the journey. From there it will help to define the next steps to promote growth through a variety of practical exercises on both sides of the spectrum.
Just as it takes hours of practice and years of dedication to master any artistic expression, so this Kingdom dance requires wisdom and skill, but the reward is vibrancy in your spiritual life.
I was raised in a Church where ideal intimacy with God was depicted by the words of an old hymn, “I Come to the Garden Alone.” It’s a sweet picture of walking and talking with Jesus among the dew drenched roses, and while I found it appealing, life didn’t often lend itself to that kind of intimacy. I found myself on a battle field, and I needed to experience intimacy with God under live fire while being hunkered down in my foxhole.
In this messy place of blood, sweat, and tears, I leaned the Kingdom dance of the Bride and the Son, and it’s now my joy to reach a hand back to a few others who long to grow in both intimacy and sonship. It isn’t easy but it’s worth it, and I look forward to watching Jesus meet you on the dance floor.
